Atlanta Michigan
is famous for its status as the  "Elk Capital of Michigan,"
because of the large elk herd, 500-600 strong, that roams the land in the surrounding
Thunder Bay  River State Forest.
This town is also situated on the Thunder Bay River,
complete with dam  and scenic park area just to the south of town.
It is easily accessed at the junction of M-33 and M-32.
